Priority processing will be for permanent regional migration visas in 2011-212. There will be an increase in the number of RSMS to 16,000 and a streamlining of Permanent Residency for certain types of temporary visa holders (ie 457). DIAC are currently developing and implementing a Regional Engagement Strategy. What this means is that DIAC informs regional Australian employers about regional migration programmes to help regional employers find employees. This is done through outreach officers. ENS and RSMS - The regulations into 2012 will become less subjective, more objective and more robust. There will be an increase in the minimum age to 50 years of age at the time of application for the visa. The new model will be based on skill and there will be a removal of all obstacles except the skills assessment.
